The village priest, Father John Mulligan is on his way to the state prison as the regular chaplain is ill, when he bumps in to Dr Christian and Judy on their way to the hospital.

He tells them he is going to bring the peace of god to the convicted murderer who coincidentally has the same name as him, John Mulligan. What he doesn't expect to discover is that the murderer is actually his own son who he has never seen.
