Our story begins behind the grim reinforced walls of Portsmouth Penitentiary, the Alcatraz of the East in September. Red Ryan the red-headed, merciless bank bandit and his fellow convicts, have hatched a plan to break out of the prison. They manage to escape successfully, and a spate of bank robberies over the border in Canada follow soon afterwards.
