Chris and Elizabeth didn’t like their stepfather Ralph Chase who was their legal guardian and executer of their estates after their mother died. They didn’t like him handling their money. Ralph Chase was afraid that his twenty-year-old stepdaughter was going to get herself in some serious trouble by marrying Murray Lang whom he felt was only after her money. When she marries her mother’s Will rules that Ralph Chase as executer turns over half the estate to Elizabeth. Her brother Chris had always been irresponsible and his mother ruled that he would not get his money until he was 35 but this only made him hate his stepfather who had raised both kids and felt that they were spoilt brats.
