The year 900. A bad time to be weak or poor, or a woman - especially a woman. Our tale concerns a woman. Her name was Rachel, and she lived in a tiny village near Paris. She was, of all things, a writer. She compiled stories and legends of those far away, long ago, medieval times, and like all good writers, she made herself the central character.
