Doc was concerned about a tonic that Professor Lute Bone was selling in town and wanted Matt to stop him. Bone professed that his tonic was a “cure all” but Doc had tested it and discovered it had opium in it. He was afraid folks would get addicted to it and then if they really had something wrong they wouldn’t know about it or get the right medicine.
