In the year 1796 a killer stalked the streets of Europe and those his name was well known he prowled unchallenged in the sewers of Paris, the alleys of Naples, even the rich rolling countryside of Gloucestershire England. And that was the smallpox. Mr Phipps was a country farmer who believed that if you caught the cowpox you would never get the smallpox. This makes Dr Edward Jenner interested in creating an inoculation against smallpox by administering a dose of cowpox.
