Leaving their great horses behind, the Lone Ranger and Tonto approached the crest of a hill. Below them was the sweeping expanse of the rich prairie land where cattle grazed, and in the distance, a white ranch house set in the trees described a large figure L. Occasionally they could make out the small forms of mounted men, keeping watch on the house, which they knew from Tonto's earlier approach that there were at least a dozen men, and probably another dozen he hadn't seen. All were killers, happy to take a shot at anyone coming nearby...
