Charles Grey the hero of Point Of No Return is in his early forties working in a New York bank. At his age he didn’t have to go in to the army and his wife Nancy thought he was a fool to sign up. She thought he’d lose his chance to be the head of the bank but Charles went out, he saw action with the army air force in Africa and Italy and now as the story opens in the year 1947 Charles is back in the bank but much more quizzical about himself and his job. The war has given him a fresh hold on himself and a fresh disquieting slant on his old values.
