When a rather selfishly minded Englishman, (who likes his own company!) takes a fishing holiday in eastern France, he is unfortunately there at the time when the Germans invade in 1940. Setting off to try and get back home to England, he is persuaded to take along two children from where he is holidaying, and as his journey progresses his family keeps growing in size...
