Police Captain Daggert is brought in to emergency after being shot in an incident at the town school. A madman has himself barricaded in there with a gun. Daggert tells Dr Gillespie and Dr Kildare that it was a man named Cosloff who was doing some painting at the school. Dr Kildare recognises the name Peter Cosloff as the man he treated when he fell off the scaffold and broke his leg while doing some painting at the hospital. Dr Kildare decides he must try to go in to the school to help Cosloff as they cannot risk leaving him in there with children in his mental state.
