Gordon MacRae stars as Robert Louis Stevenson and Lucille Norman stars as Fanny Osborne Stevenson. The show opens with Fanny singing Songs My Mother Taught Me. Both Robert and Fanny are excited as the stories Robert has written are to be published as The Child's Garden of Verses. That's not the title given by the Stevensons, but they'll always remember them as the Penny Whistles.
