Chester brings a sick dog that has been poisoned in to the Doc’s. Chester decides that he is going to keep the dog and call it Pal but Marshall Matt Dillon recognises the dog as Spiny Murphy’s dog, the dog he bought to protect him from his wife who beats up on him.
