The Washington Bulletin began publishing proudly in 1800, with the birth of our capital city. For one hundred and seventy five years it published uninterruptedly, an independent newspaper, respected and admired for its continuity, its devotion to uncompromising faithfulness to the whole truth, and nothing but. Sadly, it went under a few years ago and published no more. Its demise was just about the time of this story, though neither fact had a bearing on the other. The timing was strictly coincidental, and the year was 1969.
