"We met for the first time, Joan and I, at a bar in Hong Kong. There was no-one to introduce us, but there are times in life when people need no introduction. I was standing there alone, except for the bartender, and was more than a little bit lonely. I asked the bartender if I could mix my own drink, and he looked at me like I was crazy - telling me how it's the first time anyone ever asked to mix their own drink.
