Today we tell the story of the great Southern educator, Mary McLeod Bethune. The story begins in 1935, and the President in the White House is putting together a new deal. He is puzzled over a name the first lady has given to him, who she felt the President should appoint to help direct education. As nobody knows anything of the woman, he directs his staff to find out more information.
