Old Timer had been one of the best sled dogs in the Yukon during his day, but he was growing very old now, and even during the summer months he found it hard to find food. That was why King dropped into the habit of bringing him to the North West Mounted barracks for his meals. Sergeant Preston took one look at Old Timer's teeth and prepared some soft food for him.
