Gold, silver, lead and tungsten were all found in the various canyons of Death Valley, but the greatest treasure of them all, in terms of long-range income, was the discovery of borax. This was overlooked by the two rough-looking bearded hombres who drove their burros down the mountain where they had been prospecting for silver.
