A ranger has to not only be a jack of all trades, but a master as well! One of the sciences he must have some knowledge of, is botany, and he must also know something of soil chemistry. Poor soils make poor trees, and a good ranger should be able to distinguish the symptoms as they make themselves apparent. Right now, the rangers are out taking soil samples...
