The Oblong Box has been adapted for CBS Radio Mystery Theater by George Lowthar from Edgar Allan Poe’s tale of intense horror to say nothing of mystery.

Elvira and Will Hopkins are totally baffled and just a bit uneasy about the curious actions of Cornelius Wyatt and his bride Rachel. As the sailing ship Independence makes its way from Charleston, South Carolina to New York, Will and Elvira burn with curiosity to know the contents of the coffin-like oblong box Cornelius Wyatt brought aboard.
