They say every nightmare has a prelude something that inspired it, something that happened or almost happened that your innermost mind seizes upon. It lives there in the back of your head and it multiplies itself and fattens on tiny fears until it’s grown in to a monstrous horror and then when it’s full sized with dread it springs out on us in the darkness of night when you’re defenceless in sleep.
