Lou Clarke is a news reporter working for the news service. It's small town work, and he is a very ambitious reporter who wants to work on the big time newspapers. He's turned up at the town right in the midst of a disaster. There's been a terrible blast at the local mine which has trapped some folks below ground, but instead of being concerned for their welfare, Lou thinks this is a way for him to make his mark on the world.
