My Cousin Rachel

Philip Ashley’s cousin Ambrose was everything in the world to him but he arrived at his villa in Florence Italy too late for Ambrose had died suddenly of a brain tumour. However Philip cannot believe that it was sudden, as Ambrose had taken the time to write to him. In his letter he wrote, “She has done for me at last, Rachel my tormentor.” Rachel his wife was young and beautiful and twice a widow. From what it says in Ambrose’s letter Philip believes that Rachel has killed Ambrose to inherit his money but Ambrose left everything in his will to Philip to be given to him on his 25th birthday and Rachel says she has no intent to contest the will.

Some months later Rachel arrives in England and Philip, though suspicious of her at first, falls in love with her.

Olivia De Havilland recreates her role of Rachel in the 1952 Twentieth Century Fox success.
