George Valentine is hired to trace down an old movie star named Carol Gordon but even before he can get started his client is found murdered. He picks up from there and eventually finds her in a cheap skid row hotel. The payoff there is that someone has tried to kill her too. George Valentine won’t rest until he finds out why murder is singing such a merry song of mayhem.
