This little story of frustrated love and violence thereafter happens to have happened on the Cote D’Azur. It might have happened somewhere else but no, this little strip of Italian and French coastline called the Riviera is where it all took place. The story begins at dawn on a lovely summers day in 1946. At this period of his career Harry Lime was in the cigarette business, American cigarettes. His end of the business was distribution, which in France is organized out of Marseille, which is where he was bound this particular morning…
