Carlson had just arrived in New York to stay in Morley’s apartment whilst Morley was on vacation to discover the next-door neighbor was a rich elderly lady who liked to sing loudly and off key. An off the cuff remark that someone ought to strangle her puts him under suspicion when she is later discovered strangled.
