Civilization has changed, but the same patterns of life and death remain, and the games which are played. In Rome, it was gladiators armed with spears who fought in the arena until one or the other died. In medieval times there were knights with lance or sword, who fought on horseback. Today, we have our counterpart, prizefighting. Two men in a rope square, fighting with their fists until one man has rendered another helpless. The fight isn't supposed to end in death - but sometimes the game has the older and deadlier issue...
