Lamont Cranston receives a call from Dave Levet from the Dark Cliff Inn where he is at the moment looking the place over as he was considering purchasing it and turning it in to a summer hotel. But now Dave Levet is scared and tells Cranston that there are things going on there that he has never seen the likes of in all his life. He asks Cranston for help as everyone who was at the Inn is now dead. Lamont, aka The Shadow and his companion Margot set off to the Dead Man's Inn to discover why bodies are mounting up.
