Saturday afternoon and time to drop in at the Sportsman Club for another story of Grantland Rice. This is a baseball story that goes back to the days when a rookie had to prove himself off the field as well as on before the old timers of the club accepted him. Anyone who came up to the big league got his baptism of fire. If he could take it he was welcomed in to the select company of veterans. If he couldn't take it , well the old-timers figured he didn't belong to the big time anyway. Mr Connelly is the story of one such rookie who made it the hard way.
