Sean Gevile has bee trapped by agents of Dr Fu Manchu under the influence of a powerful drug Gevile has kidnapped Rima Barton and taken her to the Manchu headquarters. With no recollection of his actions he returns to Shepherds Hotel where he learns the ring was disappearing. Nayland Smith attempts to rouse his memory but fails to do so.
