Miss Emmott has an unpleasant experience when she discovers her brother has died suddenly at the Hillside Trade Hospital. He was in perfectly good physical health when she left him there six months ago. The mental hospital was established by Dr Hensler who had the theory that a person’s mental problems could be cured by a series of shock treatments, plus the idea of teaching them a trade. Dr. Danfield tries to have himself committed to the asylum to discover what is really happening in the hospital.
