In three hours Burton was going to be executed for a crime he didn’t commit. The man who committed the murder is involved in a car accident and seriously injured. He tells 11 year old bobby who went to his aid that before he died he needed to tell someone that he had killed the pawnbroker and that Burton was innocent. Bobby desperately tries to tell the police, then his mother and later the police again but nobody will listen to him and Bobby fears that Burton will be executed and it will be his fault.
