It is early in the Autumn of 1861. The American Civil War is just a few months old. To most Americans, the idea of hunting down and killing their own countrymen, was still an unusually disturbing experience, and a little unreal. The thought that the enemy they were shooting at, and who was shooting at them, was not from another country in the world, speaking a strange and alien tongue, but another American - still took some getting used to. But it wasn't long before that changed. Whatever compassion there might have been, began to give way to the cold, unrelenting hatred of the enemy...
