The Mathematical Murder Case opened with the knifing of Eddie Stone, dancer. His partner Betty Lou Taylor has been picked up and released and Philo Vance in an attempt to track down the killer has made the acquaintance of Joey Sanders, small time swindler. Something about a coffee shop called Mike’s Coffee Shop and Dan the waiter there seem to intrigue Vance.
