For years the fur trappers had come down from the mountains in summertime to the great meadows. There they sold their furs to the agents of the various companies who bought supplies for the coming winter. In time a permanent settlement grew up and Mountain City became the fur capital of the west. The town slept through the winter and only came to life to the first stirring of spring when the tents of the trappers covered the meadows and Mountain City came in to its own…
