The day the armed robber came in to Sloanes bank Jim Roberts was scared but he rushed him anyway and tried to knock the gun away but the robber shot his friend Fred and as Fred fell to his death he looked at Jim as though it were his fault. Jim felt that he had failed his friend and that his friend had died because of his inadequacy. The guilt he felt rendered him in to a state of mental paralysis and his wife and son missed him desperately, missed him being the man of the house. It is only when his son is put in grave danger that he manages to free him self from his mental state.
