Hoppy and California were on their way to Brownsville to pickup a herd of Coasters, little Gulf of Mexico cattle locally known as sea lions. At the time, Hoppy was carrying several thousand dollars, when they heard several rifle shots and a riderless horse barrelling past, so they headed over to investigate.
