Miss Wonderly wants a guy named Floyd Thursby trailed and soon after Thursby ends up dead along with Miles Archer. Miss Wonderly is not who she says she is, she's a compulsive liar in search of the Maltese Falcon. Meantime criminal Joel Cairo has offered Sam Spade $5000 for the Maltese Falcon.
