Bobby Merrick is in the hospital, where everyone already considers him to be a drunken good-for-nothing playboy, but it seems that this time, he's indirectly caused the death of the good Dr Hudson. After some soul searching, and a discussion with one of Dr Hudson's old friends, Bobby decides to fill the gap left when Dr Hudson passed away by studying medicine himself, where fate leads him to the arms of Dr Hudson's widow, who is now blind from an accident.
