After Lum and Abner opened by mistake, one of Miss Hartford's letters from the matrimonial bureau, Lum was quite shocked to find himself listed among the prospective husbands. It seems that he had written to the bureau himself back in 1934, but he had never received a reply - and consequently forgotten all about it!
