On the surface Augustus Dryden is a rather likeable rascal but when you take the point of view that he used the hopes and dreams of every day men and women to cloak his more nefarious enterprises and then compounded the felony by praying on and destroying those dreams he ceases to seem likeable and shows up in his proper light, a rather despicable kind of man who received exactly what he deserved.
