Grant Newman, newly elected county attorney is out to impress. He reopens an old case in which an elderly man was killed in a car accident two months ago on the outskirts of Riversend. Newman is convinced that Earl Carlson, should be tried for manslaughter but what he doesn't know is that Earl Carlson is his brother-in-law. Newman's wife confides in Dr. Christian who explains to Grant that his wife didn't tell him everything because she loved him and thought that he would feel differently about him if he knew. Reopening the case has also opened a can of worms!

At the end of the story we are taken to the Washington DC and given the chance to listen in on the annual banquet of the Medical Society of the District of Columbia where they are honoring Sr. Christian for his meritorious service to medicine.
