Alan works in research science testing on whether dolphins can communicate across species with humans. Alan can actually hear what the dolphins are saying but his colleagues think that he has been working on the research too long. Alan cannot make Dr Hughes understand that the dolphins have feelings and is concerned that he wants to kill them to experiment on their brains.
