Live from the Shamrock
Broadcast: March 17, 1949
Added: Mar 17 2019
Live from the opening of The Shamrock Hotel in Houston, Texas, you can really get a feel for how raucous the festivities were! The audio is poor, and Dorothy Lamour was cut off by the network. Assuming he was off air, NBC audio engineer Raoul Murphy uttered an expletive heard live nationwide, and dead air greeted the audience for a very long twenty seconds. Due to the numerous broadcast difficulties, Dotty reportedly fled the stage in tears!
