Abner has finally accepted that his ancient mongrel, old Blue, won't be recruited into the armed forces after all. He's sure that the old dog will be deferred now because he hangs around the defence plant part of the day. As we look in on the little community today, we find Lum in the store and library, with Abner who has just entered singing his joy.
