It has been J. B. Kendall’s intention to send his reports to the London Times in the normal sequence. He has found however that certain incidents take precedent over others therefore he has postponed writing of several unusual occurrences which took place in Dakota territory in order to speak of the final chapter in the matter of Belle Siddons alias Madame Birdie, Archie McLaughlin and Boon May. It began about a month after Archie McLaughlin and his band had attempted a hold-up on a stagecoach. Boon May was a peace officer in Deadwood and one of the most tenacious men Kendall had ever met who was determined to capture McLaughlin dead or alive and Kendall knew that he suspected Belle Siddon of being in partnership with the man.
