Drayton Manor is not nearly as old as the house of Drayton itself. By that I mean, the structure is probably not much over 200 years old. But, the Drayton family is listed in peerage as far back as the War of the Roses, and the present house is certainly built on the foundations of the ancient castle which guarded the head of the lake and the river that feeds into it. But this is 1975, and once again a remodelling is in order...
