A woman in distress called at Richard Diamond’s office all the way from Brooklyn with $300 and asked him to work for her. She said she was in desperate trouble and that he was just using her. She said he was always so nice until she met him this morning for coffee and told him what she’d found out. Then she began shivering and fell in to Richard Diamond’s arms unconscious and within five minutes she was dead. Richard Diamond discovered from the purse she had dropped in his bin that she was Doris Romano but it was the revolver in her purse which had three bullets recently fired that intrigued him most. Diamond had been paid and he was going to get to the bottom of her troubles.
