Melba Krane was quite an aristocrat in the town of Kranesberg, which was named after her family. She owned a pearl necklace that had gone missing to the insurance value of $20,000 and Smiley Prell small time jewellery thief called Tri-State Guaranty from Ohio and said he had the necklace and wanted to talk a deal.
