Young 20 year-old Andy Travis is new in town and when he enters the bar he encounters Jake Crowl who bullies him in to a fight at the bar. However Andy Travis is faster on the draw and kills Jake Crowl in self-defence. Marshall Matt Dillon witnessed the whole thing but still takes Andy’s gun from him in front of everyone in the bar and takes him to his office. Matt Dillon explains to Andy that anybody that can use a gun the way that he can either has to quit or live with blood on his hands, as there will always be someone who will try to bring him down. Andy becomes a well liked and respected member of the Dodge community but his past eventually catches up with him.
