Putting together several clues he had uncovered Nick Carter learned that Mrs Anders baby, stolen by the baby ring that has been acquiring babies in any way it can and selling them to couples eager to adopt them, had been sold to a Mr and Mrs Smith living on Main Street in Midvale. Hurrying there with Scubby Nick got there too late. A man with a foreign accent had gotten the baby back from the Smith's and disappeared with it again.
